ExpenseGauge

Contact

A person reads every message.

ExpenseGauge is small. There is no ticket queue and no bot answering first. Write in plain words and say what you were doing when it went wrong — that is usually enough.

We answer within two working days, and within 30 days for anything about your personal information, as the privacy policy says.

Make it one reply instead of four

What to put in the message.

Most exchanges that drag on for a week do so because the first message was missing one line. None of this is a form and nothing is compulsory — but a message with these in it can usually be answered properly the first time.

  • What you did, in the order you did it. “I photographed a receipt, the total came out as 12.40 instead of 124.00, and I tapped Save anyway.” Three facts, and the problem is already half found.
  • What you expected instead. Sometimes the app is working exactly as built and the way it was built is wrong. That is worth knowing and we cannot tell from the outside.
  • A photograph of the screen. Worth a paragraph, every time. If a receipt was read wrongly, a photograph of the receipt itself helps even more.
  • The email address on the account, if you are writing from a different one.
  • Phone or computer, and whether it happens on both. A fault that only appears on one is a different fault.

Please do not send passwords, card numbers or a sign-in code. Nobody here will ever ask for one, and a code in an email is a code that has escaped.

Before you write

Four things worth trying first.

A receipt was read wrongly

Correct it in the app first — that correction teaches the app, and a shop it has met once is recognized the next time. Write to us if the same mistake keeps coming back, and send the receipt with it.

Something about your data

You do not need us to get a copy: the export in the app contains everything. To have something erased from the server — one receipt or the whole account — write to the address above, or send the request from inside the app. We do it within 30 days and tell you when it is done.

Billing

Cancelling is done inside the app, not by email, and it takes one tap. If a charge looks wrong, tell us the date and the amount and we will trace it. Refunds are set out in pricing.

Something is broken right now

Tell us what you tapped, what you expected and what happened instead. If it stops you using the app at all, say so in the first line — those are read first.

Common questions

How long will it take to get a reply?

Two working days for an ordinary question. Anything about your personal information — a copy, a correction, an erasure — is answered within 30 days, which is the commitment in the privacy policy rather than a target.

Is there a phone number?

No. A written exchange leaves both of us with a record of what was asked and what was promised, which a phone call does not, and it means a receipt or a photograph of the screen can come with the question.

Can I ask for a feature?

Yes, and it is worth describing the problem rather than the feature. “I cannot tell which of these two shops a charge came from” leads somewhere useful more often than “please add a filter”.

Will you help me with my taxes?

No. ExpenseGauge keeps a record of what you spent; it is not an accountant and neither are we. What it can do is give you the record in a form your accountant can open. See the terms.

I think I found a security problem.

Write to the address above with the word security in the subject line and describe what you found. Please do not publish it before we have answered, and please do not test it against anyone else’s account.

Can I get my data out before I decide?

Yes, on either plan, at any time, without asking us. The export is in the app and it contains everything in a plain format any spreadsheet opens.
